Background from the country of origin :

Coffee was not cultivated commercially in Papua New Guinea until 1926/1927, when the first seeds of the Jamaica Blue Mountain variety were planted. Today, smallholder farmers primarily manage around 90% of coffee production, which consists primarily of Arabica varieties such as Bourbon, Typica, and Arusha. The coffee is primarily grown in the highlands, known for their ideal climate and high altitude. Many farmers live in remote areas and transport the coffee over difficult terrain by small planes or trucks. Most do not use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, making the coffee organic. Nature provides nutrient-rich soil through shade trees and natural mulch.
