Background from the country of origin :
In rural northwestern Nicaragua lie the mountains of Matagalpa and Jinotega, where cloud forests mingle with coffee plantations. It was in this setting that the Sacaclí Multi-Service Cooperative was founded in 1994. Twenty-five men and six women founded the cooperative to finance themselves independently and sell their coffee at a fair price.
